.When I notice that I am not living the dream, I give my present circumstances a good going over with two hairy eyeballs. Inevitably, nothing is keeping me from happiness. It is I not being happy.
I recently read the concept that dissatisfaction with what is (the present) is the cause of unhappiness. Rock on Captn Obvious.
I started this website with the sole idea of making a website. The website was dun the first day. Every day that I post is another celebration of completion. Satisfaction. Working on this site is one spice in my recipe for a good life. Not working on it usually means I'm too busy living the dream. It can also mean I am neither gardening, nor eating well, nor giving away photographs.
Today I realized that I was so busy fretting over the full boring slide show of my roadtrip that my present was at a stand still. I was allowing myself to get sucked into living in the past, albeit recent, instead of getting on with the present.
To celebrate, I give you today.
What we have here is a basket of freshly picked roma tomatoes by yours truly at dusk. I rinsed them, then dropped them into boiling water long enough for the skins to get loose. The tomatoes went into a cold water bath long enough for me to be able to peel off the skins. The herbs are oregano, lavender and lemon basil, plucked from my garden minutes before being added to a nice gob of melted butter. When the kitchen started smelling good, I dropped in some thinly sliced garlic. I added the tomatoes to the big ceramic covered cast iron dutch oven. Right now everything is in the oven for a long, slow overnighter. Can't wait til tomorrow!
